Outstanding Success – Part 2
For the second year running, Poached Rhino’s Wild in Africa Rhino Ball proved to be an outstanding success; doubling last year’s profit, raising a staggering R300,000 during an exceptional evening, which took place in February in Franschhoek, South Africa.
The glamorous, sunset soiree, which sold out within five days of tickets being released, was generously supported by a number of individuals and local businesses, who charitably donated a plethora of raffle and auction prizes, which significantly contributed to this year’s fantastic total; encouraging guests to dig deep and bid for lots as diverse as shark cage diving, fly fishing in Scotland and the piece de resistance, a 0.72 carat pear shaped diamond.
This fun filled evening also had a serious side, as Dr Jana Pretorius shared her thoughts and experiences working as a vet and avid campaigner against rhino poaching, giving guests an insight into how funds can be effectively employed in South Africa.
The trustees of Poached Rhino will be convening in the near future to select a number of projects that can be assisted this important funding, which is sure to make a significant difference to the world’s rapidly dwindling rhino population.
This sparkling evening, which included champagne and canapés, dinner and dancing has once again raised the bar for Poached Rhino, so watch this space for the next event taking place on World Rhino Day in September.
A huge thank you to everyone including all our sponsors and a special thank you to Craig at ROCA at Dieu Donne Wine Estate for hosting this spectacular event.
